Reviewing the draft: Miami Dolphins
Jason Allen of the Tennessee Vols

Posted May 16, 2006

The Dolphins tried to shore-up the offense bringing in several former first round quarterbacks in the off season. They then attacked other needs in the draft from both sides of the ball.

If he remains healthy and his hip holds out, Jason Allen was excellent value at pick number 16. One of the most complete defensive backs in the nation, Allen has a history with Dolphin head coach Nick Saban, who tried to recruit the secondary player out of high school high school. Derek Hagan had been dropping since January but was a bargain in round three. He has the tools to develop into a very productive third wide out in the NFL. Joe Toledo could be great value in the fourth if he stays healthy and continues to develop his game. Though a typical boom or bust prospect and a player not well liked, Rod Wright was worth the risk of a seventh round pick.
