With record setting running back Chris Barclay trying to make an NFL roster, the ball will be handed to Micah Andrews this season. Andrews
possesses size and in the end may be a better prospect for the next level than
Barclay. Receiver Nate Morton is a good-sized pass catcher with
reliable hands and free agent material who could make an NFL roster as a fifth
receiver. Steve Vallos has
been productive at tackle yet is a limited athlete with a marginal size.
Another free agent, Vallos is likely to be tried at guard on the next
level.
The
defensive back seven offers a pair of players that the NFL is closely
monitoring. Junior linebacker Jon Abbate is a physical, hard-working player
constantly around the ball. Instinctive, he quickly diagnoses the action and could be effective in a
one-gap scheme. Safety Josh Gattis is a well-sized defensive back very aggressive
in run support. Disciplined with assignments, Gattis will get middle round consideration
next April. Teammate Patrick Ghee flashes ability at safety and has potential
as a dime back.
