Scouting the M-West: New Mexico
New Mex

Posted Jul 30, 2002

The Rocky Long era may finally be turning the corner in New Mexico and after coming "oh so close" to a bowl game last year, they may breakthrough in ’02. By the admission of a source within the program, it is unlikely any Lobo will hear his name called in next April’s draft.

If there were one senior to get the nod on draft day it would be center Rashad McClure; a nice size pivot prospect that plays with quickness and tenacity. After that juniors fill the lists as the top pro-prospects including another lineman, Jason Lenzmeier and wide out Dwight Counter. Lenzmeier is an athletic tackle that has been a stalwart since he was a freshman while Counter offers size and some game breaking skills at receiver.
