Junior
Sidney Rice is a game controlling pass catcher with outstanding natural skills.
Playing with terrific balance, body control and consistency, Rice is reliable in
all aspects of the game. An outstanding red zone target, he consistently comes
away with the reception during the games important moments. Though he lacks true
deep speed Rice shows all the abilities necessary to impact next year's draft if
he leaves for the NFL. Teammate Syvelle Newton has better size/speed numbers
compared to Rice but is not as good a football player. Newton must become a
bigger part
of the offense as a senior to meet the expectations of NFL scouts. Center Chris White is a hard-working blocker with good size and explosion. Effective with the
shotgun snap, White offers solid upside potential for the next level.
On
defense nose tackle Stanley Daughty is a hard-working plugger on the inside who
chases to get involved in the action. Quickly getting off the snap with
excellent first step quickness, Daughty is a load to handle in the middle of the line. With
more teams moving to the 3-4 defense he will be highly rated entering his senior
campaign. Cornerback Fred Bennett offers outstanding size/speed numbers and
plays to them on the field. Displaying good footwork Bennett is fundamentally
sound and quickly closes to the action. Not overly instinctive he struggles with
his back to the ball and must improve the mental aspects of his game. Brandon Isaac moves into the starting safety position and the oft-injured senior will be
watched as he possesses the physical skills to play in the NFL.
