The top prospect on offense is senior tight end Scott Chandler. Under
appreciated and underrated, Chandler offers natural receiving skills as well as
football intelligence. Offering the quarterback a nice target, he consistently
makes the tough catch in a crowd. Chandler gives effort blocking but gets
marginal results. He is the one Iowa prospect who could break into the draft’s
first day with good combine workouts. Mike Jones is an explosive interior
blocker who plays with a nasty attitude. Jones drives defenders off the line
then seals them from the action with good body positioning. Best in a small area
he is not effective in motion but offers size, growth potential and will get
middle round consideration. Drew Tate is a solid college quarterback with
marginal skills for the next level. Undersized, he is likely a practice squad
player.
Defensively Marcus Paschal offers solid size/speed numbers in the
secondary. A hard-nosed defender always working to get involved in the action,
Paschal is a solid run defender best suited as a zone safety for a two-deep
system.
