Boise State
Senior running back Brock Forsey is not fast, big or powerful rather
an outright good football player that makes positive things happen when the ball
is in his hands. Forsey has great instincts, vision and determination taking
hand-offs and works his runs hard, picking up as much yardage as possible. He
also possesses terrific hands out of the backfield and is a very active part of
the BSU offense. We don’t expect a great athletic workout from Forsey prior to
the draft but he is definitely the type of prospect some coach or general
manager will take a liking to and draft in the later rounds. We fully expect him
to make it next September (’03) as a third down player and someone that will
flourish on special teams. The Broncos have a pair of senior receivers; one
reliable and consistent, the other raw with a great amount of upside potential. Lou
Fanucchi is a smart pass catcher with a great feel for the game that should
easily take over as the "go to" guy with the graduation Jeb Putzier
but has lousy measurables. On the other hand Jay Swillie is a wide out
with outrageous size/speed numbers and a player that displays brilliance on
occasion as both a game controlling and game breaking receiver. Problem is
Swillie production has been spotty at best; should that change and he pull
together an entire game a first day choice is not out of the question. Finally, Ryan
Dinwiddle is a nice junior prospect at quarterback and a signal caller with
a great head on his shoulders and leadership intangibles. His accuracy is right
on and arm strength more than adequate giving him a real shot at the middle
rounds of the ’04 draft.
Defensively, Quinton Mikell is a very active safety, constantly around
the ball making plays but slightly undersized for free safety and a bit
deficient in pass coverage. Mikell actually plays a rover position (strong
safety/outside linebacker) but his abilities to return kicks are what will catch
the scouts eye and give him late frame consideration.
