Ed Thompson provides you with an at-a-glance snapshot of one of the top cornerbacks in this year's NFL Draft in this Scout.com Draft File feature. Find out why North Carolina State's A.J. Davis is going to be in high demand.

A.J. Davis
Cornerback, North Carolina St.

Numbers:  5'10, 192 pounds

2006 Stats: 24 tackles (18 solo), 6 passes defensed, 0 interceptions in 10 games

Career Stats:  56 tackles (39 solo), 13 passes defensed, 4 interceptions, 7 kickoff returns for 130 yards (18.6 avg)  in 51 games

The Buzz:  One of the quickest corners in this draft ... plays smart, rarely falling for play-action ... excels in man coverage and uses great timing with his leaps to eliminate any height advantage a receiver may have ... great reputation as a sure tackler ... "His effort level is tremendous; his coverage is tremendous.'' -- NC State cornerbacks coach Greg Williams ... "His motor is always hot.'' NC State WR John Dunlap.

Noteworthy:   Broke his leg in his freshman year, yet is now best-known for his speed ... could have entered the draft last year but opted to play another year at NC State instead ... in 2005, his first full year as a starter, he didn't allow a single touchdown pass ... very vocal on the football field ... fishing is one of his favorite hobbies... started a tradition for himself where he saved up about $100 per year so he could buy Christmas gifts for underprivileged children at a daycare center where his mother worked.

He said it to Scout.com...
"A lot of it is attitude and believing in yourself ... when I'm on the field, I believe they [receivers] aren't going to be touching the ball." -- A.J. Davis on what makes him such a good man-coverage defender

"I was raised in the church so I have a lot of respect for it and it's an important thing in my life." -- A.J. Davis on his enjoyment of gospel music

"...Some people turn it down because they feel they have more to lose than a game. I feel like it's just another opportunity to play another football game. " -- A.J. Davis on accepting his invitation to play in the Senior Bowl
