Central Michigan Chippewas
There are a trio of prospects we are watching from CMU; pair of both
offensive and defensive players. Guard Kyle Crosky is a big, wide bodied
lineman that blocks with power, leverage and a nasty attitude. Displaying jolt
at the point of attack, Crosky easily controls opponents once engaged in a block
and works to take defenders out of the play. Not a nifty or nimble lineman,
Crosky is best in very confined quarters and hence, will be given only late
round consideration. Wide out Rob Turner is a tall, strong receiver with
reliable, soft hands. Turner, a decent route runner, displays good football
awareness, comes back to the ball or quarterback when there’s trouble and
works to make himself an available target. His slim build and lack of speed will
give him trouble at the next level but Turner is definitely worth bringing into
a camp next summer. Linebacker Jovan Clark is an active, aggressive
defender that flies around the action and chases to get involved in the play.
Rarely off his feet he gets through the traffic defending the run while also
displaying good range in pass coverage, as well as reaction when the ball is in
the air. Clark's size/speed numbers are adequate as is his versatility to play
either inside or outside linebacker, and that combination gives him a solid shot
as a practice squad player for 2003. Darvin Lewis is another linebacker
that files around the ball and displays both range and explosion. Lewis will be
asked to play strong safety during the upcoming campaign and if successful,
could move into the late frames as he has possibilities as a king-sized run
stuffing safety at the next level.
