NFL Draft Audio: DE Victor Abiamiri

Notre Dame's Victor Abiamiri is expected to be a Day One pick in this year's NFL Draft. Learn more about him and his thoughts on a wide range of topics such as his former head coach, Charlie Weis, other players of Nigerian heritage, the possibility of playing in his hometown, and more.

At the NFL Combine this year, Victor Abiamiri fielded a number of questions about his background and his style of play. And it was clear that he knew exactly what was driving the high level of interest in him amongst NFL coaches who were talking to him about the possibility of playing for their team 2007.

"Every team covets a guy who can come off the edge and rush the passer," he said. "And I know I can do that."

He sure can. Abiamiri posted 10.5 sacks last year and 15 tackles for a loss. During his junior year, he had 8 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. At 6-foot-4, 267 pounds, Abiamiri is the kind of player who stays focused on the task at hand.

"I'm not really much of a talker when I'm on the field. I'm pretty quiet and play my game instead of playing other people's game," he told Jerry Strabley from our Notre Dame site last summer.
