Scouting the Sun Belt: Idaho
Idaho

Posted Sep 15, 2002

It wasn’t long ago when Idaho ruled the former Big West Conference, making annual appearances at the Humanitarian Bowl, the game played on a blue field. Things have quickly changed; after being considered a major contender for the Sun Belt title last season Idaho fell on its’ faces winning only a single contest. The results were felt in the draft as not a single Vandal was selected and this season could be a duplicate of 2001.

Idaho Vandals

Neither Vandal prospect we are watching will be drafted and both are a stretch to be signed as free agents. Running back Blair Lewis runs tough between tackle but lacks the size to be an interior ball carrier nor is he fast enough to cut the corner. He has a knack for getting nicked and has not seen the field much this year. Receiver Chris Belser offers decent size and a lot of reliability but no speed, which makes him roster fodder.
