Before heading to New York for his first rookie camp, offensive tackle Adam Koets talked to Scout.com's Ed Thompson about his draft weekend experience and his thoughts on getting the chance to play for the Giants.

After spending all of his life on the west coast, Oregon State's Adam Koets found out that he'd be heading to New York when he was selected in the sixth-round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Giants.

And although he's traveled around the world, his rookie minicamp will mark the first time that he's been to New York City.

"I'm excited, it'll be a cool city to play [in]," he said. "You know, great fans, great team and obviously a great city to live in."

Even more exciting for Koets is the prospect of competing for the starting left tackle position on the Giants' offensive line since last year's starter, Luke Petitgout, was released and is now a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.

"I have a chance to go in there and play the position I wanted to. A lot of teams were calling me about possibly putting me at center or guard," Koets said. "They're going to give me the opportunity to come in and compete and show what I can do and an opportunity to play the premiere position on the offensive line, a position that I'd love to play."
