To help shore up what looked to be a shaky running back position for the Tennessee Titans, the team made a move to improve their situation in that spot on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans reached a one-year contract agreement with UFA RB Chris Brown Monday.

A league source indicated to Scout.com Brown chose to re-sign with Tennessee because they gave him the best chance to start this season.

The fifth-year pro out of the University of Colorado is seen as the favorite to win Tennessee's starting job at running back this season due to his playing experience. But it should be noted the oft-injured Brown only appeared in five games last season. He actually was a healthy inactive for several games last year due to the resurgence of veteran RB Travis Henry.

Brown will still have to compete for the job against second-year RB LenDale White and rookie RB Chris Henry.

Brown also drew interest from the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots.
