Scout.com and Panther Insider has learned Carolina Panthers rookie Dwayne Jarrett was involved in a car accident Wednesday evening.

While it's believed that he didn't suffer any serious injuries, it's not known yet whether he's had a medical evaluation.

Jarrett, the first of Carolina's two second-round picks, is slated to compete for the No. 2 receiver job against fourth-year WR Drew Carter.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

UPDATE 6/20 at 6:15 PM ET

When contacted by Scout.com this evening, Jarrett's agent, Darin Morgan, confirmed the accident.

"At this point, it appears that Dwayne only has bumps and bruises. Dwayne has consulted with the Panthers' medical personnel and we will continue to monitor his medical situation.

Dwayne and I talked soon after the accident and thank goodness he was wearing his seatbelt and wasn't seriously hurt."
