The last several weeks have been topsy-turvy
for Maryland offensive tackle Jared Gaither.
As we originally reported on May
31st, Gaither had a meeting planned with Maryland officials that week to
decide his future. The feeling was if he could not be reinstated for the
'07 season he would leave the program and enter the supplemental draft.
Just three weeks later, after Gaither was
officially declared academically ineligible for the '07 season, the early
indications were he would stay at Maryland for at least two more years.
The past week we've heard numerous rumblings
that Gaither was rethinking his options.
Rumors surfaced earlier today that Gaither was
going to opt for the supplemental draft. A source affiliated with the
program told us tonight that Gaither has told people close to him that he will
in fact be entering next months supplemental draft.
We will have more as the story develops.
