Pro Day Workout: Jared Gaither

More than a dozen teams lined the field in College Park, Md. to watch offensive tackle Jared Gaither work out today, his single performance in front of pro scouts before this week's supplemental draft. Here are the early returns.

Just as we predicted in our preview yesterday, Gaither looked solid during the athletic drills but was ineffective on the bench press.

The 6-foot-8-inch Gaither weighed in just over 320 pounds and ran his 40 in times which ranged between 5.00 to 5.12 seconds, depending on whose stopwatch was read.  His vertical jump was an impressive 31 inches, as was his 9-foot-3-inch broad jump.

Sources we spoke with said Gaither looked good during position drills, displaying solid footwork and good flexibility.  The heat and a lack of conditioning did loom large as Gaither wore down as the morning went on.

Gaither completed just 16 reps on the bench press, a poor number that was expected.

This story will be updated as more news comes in.
