UPDATE 9:30 PM EST- Washington going to the
left coast
Sources told us late this afternoon that Mark
Washington of Texas State, who was not selected in the supplemental draft
earlier today, has signed a free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
The former Arizona State transfer, who played
defensive tackle out of necessity last season, will be tried at rush linebacker
in the Niners scheme.
Back on June
29th we had reported the Niners were flying Washington into their facilities
for an exam and interview. And while his workout
was not as good as hoped, the Niners feel he'll offer competition in camp, which
starts later this month.
Aaron Wilson of RavensInsider.com has confirmed that the Baltimore Ravens used a fifth round selection to draft Maryland tackle Jared Gaither. The team confirmed the move with Wilson and will be issuing an official press statement in the coming hours.
Jason Chayut, the agent for Georgia defensive
back Paul Oliver, has confirmed that the San Diego Chargers have used a
pick in the 4th round to take his client.
Chayut received a phone call from Chargers head
executive Ed McGuire just a short time ago. The Chargers will now relinquish
their fourth round pick in the 2008 draft.
We will keep you updated as to which teams sign the remaining undrafted players.
No other player has been selected as of yet.
