Scouting Report: Thunder Collins

Thunder Collins is like many of his Nebraska predecessors at running back; sized well and fast. But unlike many in the Cornhusker backfield that played before him, Collins is an outstanding receiver and a viable threat when the ball is thrown in his direction. 2001: Third on the team with 94/647/6.9/5, also had 19 receptions for 189 yards, starting a single game.

2000: Appeared in three games totaling 13/77/5.9 

1998: Junior college All-American at East Los Angeles CC.

Scouting Report:

  The Good: Speedy back with intelligence and running instinct.  Sees the field, sets up his blocks and then follows them.  Quick through the hole, has a burst of speed and works his runs.  Plays faster than his forty time.  Excellent receiver out of the backfield and looks natural catching the ball.  

The Bad: Not quick or smooth cutting  it back nor is he an elusive runner that makes something out of nothing.  Willing blocker and gives effort but gets minimal results.  

The Skinny: Developing as a football player and commended for his work ethic but may be no better than the third man on the depth chart at the next level.  Pass catching hands and build may get him consideration at receiver.
