Jones, the ACC's leading rusher, went down in
the third quarter of Florida State's 34-21 win at Wake Forest Saturday after originally
hurting his knee on his initial carry of the opening quarter.
"The MRI report confirmed he injured both
his ACL and MCL," the Florida State report stated. Surgery to repair
the damaged ligaments should take place in two weeks. A long
rehabilitation process means Jones could be on the sidelines next March during
spring practice.
We stated in our Locker
Room Notes from this game that we felt on Saturday this injury, and the way
it occurred, would effect the decision to turn pro by several other 'Nole
prospects. Obviously the choice has already been made for Jones and it is
likely his plans to enter the draft will be put on the backburner for at least a
year.
