Flash Analysis |
The Saints still need some help in the secondary after last year's fiasco on their defensive back line. Porter enters a situation in which the Saints are looking for a playmaker and Porter could fit the bill. He finished his career at Indiana with 16 interceptions, including 7 last year. He brings good speed and skills as a punt returner to the table. Most of the top corners were off the board, so it was really between Porter and Justin King if the Saints wanted a corner. Most scouts agree he'll need to improve his tackling ability and be more physical. But given the Saints' issues in pass defense last year, Porter will have a chance to win a job in 2008. - Matt Postins, Saints Insider

Adam Caplan's Take |
New Orleans was looking for a developmental cornerback who could eventually replace veteran CB Mike McKenzie and they got one with Porter.
