Former Colts offensive lineman Dylan Gandy has signed a one-year deal to play for the Denver Broncos in 2008. Scout.com's Ed Thompson has the details.

Scout.com has confirmed that the Denver Broncos have signed former Colts offensive lineman Dylan Gandy to a one-year contract at the league minimum.

While Gandy received interest from roughly a half a dozen teams, ultimately it was Denver's system and their use of quick, athletic offensive linemen that made them a good fit. The 6-foot-3, 302 offensive guard is a solid in-line blocker who also shows good instincts as a lead-blocker in open space.

During his three years in Indianapolis, the former 4th-round draft pick played in 42 games, starting 14 times. During the 2006 Super Bowl season, he started 11 times at left guard while Ryan Lilja was recovering from a knee injury. A restricted free agent this year, Gandy had signed back on with the Colts after receiving a one-year, $927,000 offer. But after Indianapolis loaded up on younger offensive linemen during NFL Draft weekend in April, Gandy was released.

Denver is in need of more talent and depth on their offensive line as they try to determine who will be protecting quarterback Jay Cutler this season. Gandy offers versatility as an interior lineman as he gained plenty of game experience at both guard and center at Texas Tech. He saw limited action during the regular season as a center with the Colts as well.

A highly focused, blue-collar type of worker in practice and at game time, Gandy will be worth watching as the Broncos open their training camp this summer.
