The quarterback position in free agency has been thinned out of late. Despite starting four games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, Quinn Gray remains without a job.

Best Available NFL Free Agents-Defense

Quarterback
Quinn Gray - He does have some limited starting experience but he's basically a No. 3 quarterback.
Jared Lorenzen - He has some upside as a No. 3 quarterback.
Tim Rattay - He's likely going to be a No. 3 quarterback for any team that wants to sign him.
Craig Nall - He's likely going to be a No. 3 quarterback for any team that wants to sign him.
Matt Baker - He's likely going to be a No. 3 quarterback for any team that wants to sign him.

Running Back
Shaun Alexander - He struggled mightily last season and may have to wait awhile longer in order to find a new home.
Ron Dayne - Despite performing reasonably well for the Houston Texans the past two seasons, Dayne remains unemployed.
Mike Bell - He was with the Houston Texans for about a week but they waived him after he suffered a hamstring injury.
Kenny Irons - The former second-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals is coming back from ACL surgery.
Vernand Morency - He offers a team a third down role.
Noah Herron - He offers a team a third down role.
LaBrandon Toefield - The power back could handle a third running back role.
Marcel Shipp - Solid special teams player and fits in as a third back.
Musa Smith - He fits in as a #3 back.
Anthony Thomas - The power runner is best suited to handle a No. 3 role at this point in his career.
Verron Haynes - The former Pittsburgh Steeler could handle a No. 3 running back role.
Clifton Dawson - He could find a home as a third back.
Eric Shelton - The former second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers may have run out of chances after being waived by the Washington Redskins recently.
Samkon Gado - He worked out for the New England Patriots recently but it's believed he wasn't offered a contract.

Fullback
Andrew Pinnock - He has some starting experience but was beaten out by rookie FB Mike Tolbert for the starting job with the San Diego Chargers.
Darian Barnes - He was recently released by the Buffalo Bills.
Regan Mauia - He started for the Miami Dolphins last season and was recently released by the Bengals.

Chad Jackson - He had tryouts for the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, and St. Louis Rams recently.
Roydell Williams - He caught 55 passes last season, but Williams is still struggling coming back from a broken ankle.
Samie Parker - The Seattle Seahawks released him after spending just a few days with the team.
Reche Caldwell - He fits in as a fourth receiver.
David Givens - His career is in doubt after suffering a serious knee injury almost two years ago.
Terrance Copper - The former New Orleans Saint fits in as a fourth receiver. Courtney Roby - He was recently released by the Colts.
Cedrick Wilson - His one-game suspension has been lifted by the league.
Doug Gabriel - He was recently released by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tim Carter - He can run well in a straight line but catching the ball has been a problem.
Martin Nance - He's a tall receiver but lacks good enough speed to play on game days.
Taylor Jacobs - The former second-round pick of the Washington Redskins has bounced around in recent years.
Keenan McCardell - He said recently that he still wants to play.
Aaron Moorehead - He offers a team value as a No. 4 receiver.
David Kircus - He had a good workout for the Tennessee Titans recently.

Tight End
Ryan Krause - He fits in as a third tight end.
Adam Bergen - The former Lehigh University tight end had a good pre-season for the Baltimore Ravens.
Courtney Anderson - The Oakland Raiders once saw him as their tight end of the future. Since then, he's been with four other teams.
Aaron Walker - The Baltimore Ravens recently released the journeyman tight end.
Teyo Johnson - Journeyman, No. 3 tight end who has been in and out of the league for a while.

Offensive Tackle
Luke Petitgout - He failed a team physical by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently.

Leander Jordan - The journeyman backup tackle was recently released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Connor Barth - He lost the kicking job in Kansas City to Nick Novak.
Justin Medlock - The St. Louis Rams recently released the former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs.
Aaron Elling - The kickoff specialist was recently released by the Oakland Raiders.
Morten Andersen - Even though he turned 48 recently, Andersen hasn't officially retired.

Punter
