Comments: The Steelers have lost two of their last three contests and have only beaten two teams with a winning record on the season. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has played well, but due to injuries has struggled in recent weeks. The running game (a long time Steelers staple) even without Willie Parker and last year’s number one selection Rashard Mendenhall, the Steelers have found in free agent acquisition Mewelde Moore a tough runner with vision and excellent receiving skills.
I’ve always had a great deal of respect for Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert. He’s bright, has good instincts for the game and is a good evaluator of talent. Omar Kahn a former colleague of mine with the New Orleans Saints handles salary cap issues and is one of the very best in the game. The scouting staff is a veteran group headed by long time scout Ron Hughes and is a good one.
The Steelers are a good, but far from an exceptional football club, who find themselves at the midpoint of the season in a divisional dogfight with the surging Baltimore Ravens.
