Comments: On the field the Jaguars season got off to a very poor start when three starters on the offensive line were lost due to injuries in the first game of the season. The vaunted running game, suffered early and although things have improved in recent weeks, it is not near what it has been in recent years. David Garrard, in his second season as a starter, takes too many sacks and may have leveled off in terms of skills.
I believe head coach Jack Del Rio is a bright individual who has a chance of developing into a top coach within the league, but I am troubled by the fact that he has fired an inordinate number of assistants during his tenure on the job.
Team GMJames Harris is a nice man, but I haven’t seen much in the way of progressive ideas or innovative thinking coming from him in terms of the draft or free agency.
The scouting staff although slight anal is a very talented group with a great work ethic. Terry McDonough, Louis Clark and Tim Mingey are three of the very best in the business in my opinion.
I had extremely high hopes for this club at the start of the season, but due to injuries and their lack of improvement in some critical skill area, I no longer believe they have little to no chance of qualifying, let alone advancing in the NFL’s second season.
