Comments: The are few GM’s within the league that wouldn’t figuratively kill to have the likes of Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub, Steve Slaton, Travis Johnson, Mario Williams, Amobi Okoye, DeMeco Ryans and Dunta Robinson on their football club, but after seven years of competition and only one five hundred season to show for their efforts, the frustration level for ownership is starting to mount.
Like all teams, the Texans have made their share of mistakes, but If there were one area in which both administrative regimes have totally missed the mark, it would have to be in the development of a creditable offensive line.
Head coach Gary Kubiak in only his third season has been in a word ordinary Although he is expected to return for another season, he is going to have to start winning some football game very soon. General Manager Rick Smith, a learn on the go, former Broncos pro director, has had little impact to date on the branding of this football team.
The scouting staff has undergone numerous changes in personnel and although it has some quality people has not impressed me in recent years given their position in the draft order
The streaky Texans hope to regroup for the second half of the 2008 regular season, but based on the trends I have witnessed in the first half (not being able to hold leads late in games, the inconsistencies on offense and the disappointing play of a seemingly talented defense, I really don’t like their chances.
