NFL Draft: 2009 Mock Draft

With the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers ready to battle in Super Bowl XLIII, the NFL Draft will soon come to the forefront. Scout.com's NFL Draft Analyst Chris Steuber updates his first round projections and still has the Detroit Lions going with the signal caller from USC.


Congratulations to the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers for advancing to Super Bowl XLIII. Now that we’re down to the final two teams, the draft order of 30 teams is set, and there’s a directive as to how the April spectacle may unfold.

The infusion of young talent in this year’s draft is obvious, as I project 17 seniors and 15 underclassmen being selected in the first round. The off-season All-Star games helped the draft stock of some of this year’s senior prospects, and with the Scouting Combine right around the corner, the underclassmen will have their opportunity to increase their value even further.

With that said, the intrigue builds as to whom the Detroit Lions will select with the first pick in the 2009 draft. The Lions are on the clock…
