NFL Draft: 2009 Mock Draft

With the NFL season reaching its conclusion, all is quiet at this time. But in the coming weeks, the Scouting Combine and Free Agency will take center stage. In the meantime, Scout.com's NFL Draft Analyst Chris Steuber updates his first round projections and releases his new mock draft.


Now that the season has concluded and the only game remaining is the Pro Bowl, the NFL Universe is rather quiet as we all await the Scouting Combine and Free Agency in the coming weeks. The one thing that’s never quiet is the storm of Mock Drafts that hits the Internet daily, and after two weeks, I’ve decided to update my first round mock draft and forecast the future of 32 prospects.

The infusion of young talent in this year’s draft is obvious, as I project 17 seniors and 15 underclassmen being selected in the first round. The off-season All-Star games helped the draft stock of some of this year’s senior prospects, and with the Scouting Combine right around the corner, the underclassmen will have their opportunity to increase their value even further.

With that said, the intrigue builds as to whom the Detroit Lions will select with the first pick in the 2009 draft. The Lions are on the clock…
