VS
Fresno State
Six FSU players were ruled
ineligible for this game because of academic problems with five of them being starters.
Defensive
end Nick
Burley, linebacker Sam Williams,
receiver Marques Davis and
guard Fitu Tu'ua were all sent home after the grades came in. Factor in
Bernard Berrian's decision to sit out the entire campaign
after hurting his knee during the season's initial game and Fresno is up against
it. Both Marques Davis and Fitu Tu'ua are underclassmen we think very highly of so
this bears watching (a pair of underclassmen with academic problems). Its'
slim pickings after that; Rodney Michael
had a solid senior campaign at center
and his stock is rising, Kendall Edwards
offers a shutdown corner and is a future prospect while Logan Mankins also seems to
have a bright future on the offensive line.
Georgia
Tech
The Jackets have a
trio of explosive linebackers. Senior Recardo
Wimbush makes a lot of positive plays as a heady defender but poor
size/speed numbers will drop him into the late rounds. Junior outside
linebacker Keyaron Fox and
middle linebacker Daryl Smith both look like future stars as does
receiver Jonathan Smith who looks like a better version of Kelly Campbell to this
point. Another receiver, Kerry Watkins, is having a breakout season but
needs good pre-draft workouts to move into the late frames. Corner
Marvious
Hester has nice cover skills and possibilities as a dime back at the next level.
