Considering that the club did not have a pick until the fourth selection of the third round, I thought they made an outstanding selection in the multi-talented Jarron Gilbert. Beyond the selection, I thought the draft was a mixed bag with Knox, Freeman and the oft injured Al Afalava on the plus side and Juaquin Iglesias (inconsistent catcher), JD Moore (small and slow) and Derek Kinder (lacking in both speed and quickness). The actual draft did not merit a gentlemen "C" grade but when coupled with the pre-draft trade for Jay Cutler (easily the top player in terms of talent and playing experience), one can see that the Bears had one of the most successful drafts in the club's recent history.
