TCU linebacker
LaMarcus McDonald has
hired an agent and will not return for a fourth season next fall according to
Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson.
McDonald, Conference USA's Defensive Player of the Year, accepted an invitation
to play in the Senior Bowl next week and has been invited to the combine.
Academically ineligible to play as a
true freshman, McDonald had the option of returning for another season of
college ball if his grades were in order.
The Fighting
Irish Insider is reporting Notre Dame center Jeff Faine will forgo his
senior year and enter the NFL draft in April. A three-year starter for the
Irish, Faine received notice Monday from the NFL draft advisory board that he
likely would be a second-round pick.
``If I got third-round or lower, I
definitely would have been back,'' Faine said
Coach Tyrone Willingham was in
California on Thursday and was not immediately available for comment. Faine said
Willingham tried to persuade him to say, but supported his decision once Faine
reached it.
``Once he figured it out that I was
pretty concrete in my position, he gave me his blessing, and he thought I was
making the right decision for me personally,'' Faine said.
