The Detroit Lions have released veteran DT Chuck Darby and waived
seventh-round pick OT Lydon Murtha, a league source told Scout.com.
Darby signed a three-year, $4.7 million deal with the Lions in February of 2008.
With Darby out of the picture, that leaves veteran DT Shaun Smith as his
likely replacement in the starting lineup.
Murtha, who signed his three-year, $1.23 million deal with Lions back in late
July, figures to find a spot on Detroit's practice squad unless he's claimed off
of waivers by another team.
