The Philadelphia Eagles worked out CFL DE Ricky Foley on Thursday, a
league source told Scout.com. Foley was the only player the team worked
out on Thursday and the only defensive end worked out this week, the source added.
Foley, who has played for the BC Lions the past four seasons, posted a
career-high 12 sacks in 2009.
Foley is seen by personnel evaluators as an undersized edge rusher with decent
speed, but has a good motor. A source said his skills are a bit raw, but has
enough talent to play in the NFL.
The 27-year old defensive lineman also worked out for the New York Jets and St.
Louis Rams earlier this week. The New England Patriots also have expressed
interest in Foley.
The Jets also worked out P Jy Bond and LS Tanner Purdum this week.
Purdum did well enough during his workout that he was signed to a
reserve/futures contract by the Jets.
Bond, 30, spent time with the Miami Dolphins on their off-season roster last
year.
