James Johnson/RB - Once signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2008, Johnson was once highly thought of by the team. He'll vie for a role as the team's third back.
Taye Biddle/WR - Biddle is a decent sized receiver who could challenge for a job as their fifth receiver.
Rhys Lloyd/K - He was signed to be their kickoff specialist, a role he held for a while with the Carolina Panthers.
Michael Montgomery/DE - The former Green Bay Packer will vie for a role Minnesota's fourth end.
Chester Taylor/RB - With Taylor gone, there's a belief that the team will eventually sign veteran RB Brian Westbrook before training camp starts. However, for now, third-year RB Albert Young will be Adrian Peterson's backup.
Artis Hicks/OL - The versatile backup will get a chance to start with the Washington Redskins. His role will have to be further replaced in free agency or the draft.
Karl Paymah/CB - He played more than first expected last season, but saw more time on special teams. He'll vie for a backup role with the San Francisco 49ers.
Pre-Draft Team Needs
Defensive Tackle - Veteran DT Pat Williams turns 38 in October and some believe this will be his last season. The team probably needs to select his eventual successor in this year's draft.
Left Tackle - Starter Bryant McKinnie turns 31 in October and has been a mild disappointment for the team. Team observers believe that the front office will look to select a player in this draft that will eventually challenge McKinnie for the starting job--or even push him off the roster.
Cornerback - The team seemingly is in decent shape here. However, starter Cedric Griffin is coming off of ACL surgery. Their other starter, Antoine Winfield, turns 33 in June, and it's questionable whether his eventual replacement is on the roster. Second-year CB Asher Allen didn't contribute much in rookie season.
