Players Added
A.J. Feeley/QB - It seems like the veteran signal caller will wind up starting
this season no matter who they select in the draft.
Darcy Johnson/TE - He fits in as a third tight end.
Hank Fraley/C - He'll back up starting C Jason Brown.
Fred Robbins/DT - The veteran interior defensive lineman should be able to push
for a starting job.
Kevin Dockery/CB - It was a small surprise that the New York Giants didn't
tender him as as free agent. Dockery should challenge for a nickel job with the
Rams.
Players Lost
Marc Bulger/QB - The Rams weren't going to pay his $8.5 million salary. Bulger
could still handle most offensive schemes.
Kyle Boller/QB - With the dearth of decent backups available, Boller should be
able to find a job by the start of training camps in early August.
Samkon Gado/RB - He wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent.
Ruvell Martin/WR - Martin will get a chance at playing time with the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams are actually in good shape depth wise at the position.
Randy McMichael/TE - He remains unsigned. Daniel Fells is the projected starter
as of now.
Gary Gibson/DT - He wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent.
La Juan Ramsey/DT - He wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent.
Leonard Little/DE - Don't look for him to sign with a team until July at the
earliest.
Paris Lenon/LB - The veteran linebacker will have a chance to start with the
Arizona Cardinals.
Jonathan Wade/CB - He wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent. Still, Wade
found a new home with the Detroit Lions.
Clinton Hart/S - He was signed last season to provide depth. Hart should find a
new home in August.
Eric Bassey/S - He missed all of last season due to a knee injury.
Pre-Draft Team Needs
Quarterback - This team does not have their starter of the future at this
position currently on their 80-man roster. It's time to start developing that
player from this draft.
Tight End - With McMichael unsigned, that leaves an opening for a starter.
Cornerback - They need to find a quality starter opposite Ronald Bartell.
Defensive End - Chris Long only has shown some flashes in his first two seasons
of play. With Little unsigned, it's apparent that the team needs at least one
more quality pass rusher to be added to the mix.
Weak-Side Linebacker - They could probably use an upgrade at this position.
Right Tackle - Eventually, Jason Smith will be their left tackle, and Alex Barron may not be re-signed after 2010.
Running Back - The team must find a solid backup for starter Steven Jackson.
