David Carr/QB - The 49ers decided to not pursue Donovan McNabb. Instead, they
signed Carr to be insurance in back of starter Alex Smith.
Karl Paymah/CB - Paymah figures to compete for playing time in a dime role and
on special teams.
Shaun Hill/QB - The journeyman signal caller will compete for the No.2 job with
the Detroit Lions.
Arnaz Battle/WR - The possession receiver will compete for playing time as a
backup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tony Pashos/OT - He found a starting job at right tackle with the Cleveland Browns. Adam Snyder is the current starter at right tackle for the 49ers.

Marcus Hudson/CB - He'll mostly play on special teams with the Carolina
Mark Roman/S - At this point in his career, Roman figures to be a backup.

Outside Linebacker - Ahmad Brooks was a nice surprise last season, but it's not
like he can be counted on any way to be a consistent pass rusher.
Running Back - The one thing they really lack at the position is speed and
