Colts head coach Tony Dungy learned Sunday night that his team would be playing again on Saturday, cutting a day off their usual workweek routine. So the coaching staff got right to work on Monday, and the players are due in on Tuesday morning.

Despite their 12-4 finishes, both Indianapolis and New England have to suit up for games this weekend while the Ravens (13-3) and the Chargers (12-2) get a bye.

"That's the way the AFC went this year," Dungy said during his interview on Sirius NFL Radio on Monday. "We had our opportunity. We had to beat either Tennessee of Houston coming down the stretch and we would've had the bye. We didn't do it.

"So we've got to take the long route now, but we've got our first game at home, that's the big one. That's always the toughest one to win. If you get that first one, and then it seems like you get some momentum."

Dungy believes that playing Kansas City will be good for his team's focus and excitement level and explains why during the interview. And he also shared some good news about Bob Sanders' status. The Colts' safety, who had arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this year and who hasn't played since December 3rd. has only seen action in four games this year.

"We really think Bob's going to be able to play this week. He was close last week," Dungy said. "We had targeted all along getting him back for the playoffs.

"We were hoping to have the bye to have one more week, but we really feel like he'll be ready to go and that should get us back almost as healthy as we could hope for."

Listen to the entire 6-minute interview, compliments of Sirius NFL Radio, and hear the Colts head coach talk about tight end Dallas Clark's contributions during Sunday's game against Miami and his recovery from his injury. And you'll hear him talk about the factor that he thinks will be huge in how successful the Colts will be on Saturday against the Chiefs.
