The Tennessee Titans want to make sure their starting tight end doesn't hit the free agent market. They made a move to help ensure he stays a Titans for the 2008 season.
The Tennessee Titans have placed a second-round tender on starting TE Bo Scaife, a league source told Scout.com.
While the move may have come to a surprise to some, it's believed the team used
a higher restricted free tender than expected to dissuade other teams from
signing him to an offer sheet.
The former sixth-round pick in the 2005 draft is coming off a career-high in
catches (46) during the 2007 season.
Tennessee has also shown interest in free agent TE Alge Crumpler in recent days.
The team is expected to pass on re-signing backup TE Ben Troupe who only posted
18 catches over the past two seasons.
