Floyd Reese has overseen the most successful era in the history of the Houston Oilers / Tennessee Titans, working over a decade with owner Bud Adams and steering the team through a divisive move from Houston to Nashville.
Reese was an All-America defensive tackle at UCLA, but managed just a year in the Canadian Football League before moving to the coaching ranks.
Starting at the high school level, Reese moved quickly to coaching jobs at UCLA and then Georgia Tech, and then took a job as Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Detroit Lions in 1975. Moving to division rival Minnesota as a linebackers coach, Reese was a Viking for five years and ultimately rose to the position of Defensive Coordinator.
In 1986, Reese joined the then-Oilers as a linebackers coach, and moved to the front office in 1990 as Assistant General Manager. In 1994, he was promoted to General Manager, a role he has held since then. With nearly 100 wins since assuming the GM job, Reese is the winningest top exec in franchise history. |
