| Biography: |
| 2005: A pre-season Lombardi Award candidate, Blalock has started all 25 games that he has played during his Texas career. Starting in all 12 contests last year, Blalock earned first-team All-Big 12 honors by the conference’s coaches. Blalock served as a key member on an O-line that cleared way for Texas to be ranked second in the nation in yards on the ground (299.2 ypg) and seventh in total offense (464.4 ypg) in 2004.
2004: During his 2003 redshirt freshman season, the talented offensive lineman started all 13 games and received first team Freshman All-American honors by The Sporting News. Selected as UT’s Most Improved Offensive Player in 2003, the versatile right tackle also gained experience as a guard while redshirting. Ideally, Blalock would be inside rather than outside, but to get the Horns' top five linemen on the field at once, he needs to play right tackle, where he will start for Texas in '04.
HS: A combination of size, strength and intelligence, he simply overpowers defenders. Recorded 129 “pancake” blocks as a junior had already has 61 through the first half of 2001. Tremendous drive and explosion off the ball. Grades are outstanding, with a 3.6 GPA, 1280 SAT and 31 ACT. 405 BP, 525 squat and 26 ½ vertical. Camped at Texas and Michigan this summer. |
