Troy Williamson developed into the University of South Carolina’s' big-play artist, and the Vikings are hoping he can continue that trend in the pros for the team that traded away Randy Moss. He is a deep threat with potential to excel on special teams as a kickoff returner.
College: Played in every game, starting five contests as a true freshman at South Carolina. As a freshman, caught 17 passes for 491 yards (28.9 avg.) and four touchdowns. In 2003, started 10 games, catching 31 passes for 428 yards (13.8 avg.) and two touchdowns, including a school- and Southeastern Conference-record 99-yarder. Also returned 14 kickoffs for 268 yards (a 19.1-yard average). As a junior, had a career-high 835 yards on 43 receptions with seven touchdowns. Had seven kickoff returns for 105 yards (15.0 average). Finished career with 91 receptions for 1,754 yards (19.3 average) and 13 touchdowns in 34 games. His 1,754 yards rank seventh on the school's all-time record list. Also gained 101 yards on 12 carries (8.4 avg.), 447 yards on 24 kickoff returns (18.6 avg.) and recorded four solo tackles on special teams. Hotel, restaurant and tourism management major.
High School: Attended Silver Bluff (Jackson, S.C.) High School. A PrepStar All-American. Mr. Football finalist in the state of South Carolina, leading Silver Bluff to back-to-back state championships during a 30-game winning streak. Caught 21 passes for 500 yards and rushed for 890 yards as a senior. Consensus all-state selection. Named Class AA Player of the Year by The High School Sports Report. Rated No. 5 best WR prospect in the Atlantic by Prep Star. Rated No. 16 best WR prospect in the nation, according to Tom Lemming of ESPN and Prep Football Report. Named third-team All-South by Fox Sports Net. 2001 Shrine Bowl selection. Named Statewide All-Star by High School Sports Report. Also ran track, twice winning the state titles in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
