Biography:
Quarterback prospect selected in the fourth round (106th overall) in the 2005 draft. Expected to be the third quarterback in his rookie season.

COLLEGE: Three-year starter at Purdue (2001-04) concluded his career third on the school's all-time record lists with 9,337 passing yards, 63 TD passes and a completion percentage of 58.8 (786-of-1,336). Totaled 9,653 yards of total offense to rank second to Drew Brees (12,692) in school history. Finished career ranked 4th in Big Ten history with 9,337 passing yards and 4th in school history with seven 300-yard passing games, including one 500-yard game and two 400-yard games. Had only 2.01 percent of his passes (28) intercepted at Purdue. Majored in history.

SENIOR: Pre-season Heisman Trophy candidate established personal bests with 3,090 passing yards, a 60.7 completion percentage (completing 236-of-389 passes), 31 TDs and 5 INTs. Threw for 1,367 yards, 17 TDs and no INTs through the team's first four games. Missed 2 mid-season games with the effects of a hip injury. Returned to lead a fourth-quarter comeback against Ohio State and set a school record the next week with 503 passing yards against Indiana.

JUNIOR: Named to the Davey O'Brien Award watch list (nation's outstanding quarterback) after completing 251-of-414 passes (60.6 percent) for 2,885 yards with 15 TDs and 7 INTs. Set a Purdue record with an interception percentage of 1.69. Tied a school bowl record with 2 rushing TDs against Georgia in the Capital One Bowl despite suffering a dislocated left thumb, sprained toe and cracked rib during the course of the game.

SOPHOMORE: Started 9 games for the Boilermakers, connecting on 192-of-317 passes (60.6 percent) for 2,257 yards, 13 TDs and 9 INTs.

FRESHMAN: Played in 7 games (3 starts) as a true freshman and completed 107-of-216 passes (49.5 percent) for 1,105 yards with 4 TDs and 7 INTs. Gained national attention by connecting on 38-of-74 passes for 419 yards with 2 TDs against Washington State in the Sun Bowl; set an NCAA bowl-game record with his 74 attempts which were the second-most in school history (Drew Brees had 83 at Wisconsin in 1998). Also set an NCAA bowl record with 83 offensive plays.

PERSONAL: Attended Southeast Polk H.S. in Runnels, Iowa, playing football for coach Kent Hortsmann. Ranked as the second-best QB in the nation by SuperPrep and listed among USA Today's Super 25 prospects. Completed 208-of-450 passes (46.2 percent) for 3,176 yards with 24 TDs and 18 INTs during his career. Honorable mention all-state and first-team all-conference choice as a senior after completing 95-of-192 attempts (49.5 percent) for 1,366 yards with 12 TDs and 5 INTs. Received team's Coaches Award (leadership on and off the field) and Fit-to-Hit Award (player who conditioned himself the hardest). Connected on 70-of-113 passes (61.9 percent) for 1,150 yards with 11 TDs and 6 INTs in his junior season. Also lettered in basketball, tennis and track. Named a Student Sports All-American. An avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan growing up, wears uniform No. 18 in honor of QB Brook Berringer, who led the Cornhuskers atop the polls in 1994 and was killed in a plane crash on April 18, 1996. Born Kyle Raymond Orton. Father, Byron, played football at South Dakota. Has a dog, Elaine, named after the Seinfeld television show character played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
