| COLLEGE CAREER: University of Florida (2003-2006) record-holder for career attempts (1,458), completions (895) and passing yards (11,213) in 51 career games including 47-straight starts, while leading Gators to National Championship during senior season… Four-year starter at QB ranks 2nd in school annals with 88 passing TDs while topping UF record books with 33 200-yard passing games… Threw for a TD pass in all but 3 of his 47 career starts in which he compiled a 35-12 (.745) record …Led Gators to 13-1 record including a 41-14 victory over Ohio St. in the BCS National Championship game after starting all 14 games as a senior while completing 232-of-365 pass attempts for 2,942 yards and 23 TDs with 13 INTs… Earned All-SEC second team honors while finishing 4th in the conference with a 144.9 passer rating; adding 77 carries for 30 yards and 3 TDs… Finished junior season completing 235-of-374 passes for 2,639 yards and 20 touchdowns and 6 interceptions while leading Gators to 9-3 record… Ranked 2nd in the SEC with 219.9 yards passing per game and was 3rd in total offense (226.7 yards per game) and pass efficiency (136.5)… Carried the ball 105 times during the year for a net of 81 yards with 6 TDs… Earned All-SEC second team honors as a sophomore after leading UF to 7-5 record after throwing for 3,197 yards on 238 completions of 399 attempts… Ranked 16th in the country in passing efficiency (144.92) and 1st in the SEC in passing yards per game (266.4), total offense (273.5), and passing TDs (29)… 6 TD passes vs. South Carolina tied record for most ever by a UF quarterback in an SEC game… Accounted for 3 or more touchdowns (rushing or passing) in 7 contests… Named to SEC All-Freshman Team and SEC Freshman of the Year in 2003 after compiling 6-3 (.667) record as Gators starting QB, the highest winning percentage of any freshman QB in the country… Completed 190-of-320 attempts for 2,435 yards and 16 TDs with 11 INTs and ranked 2nd nationally among all freshmen in pass efficiency (132.9)… Rushed for 2 more TDs on 68 attempts while appearing in all 13 contests.
CAREER TRANSACTIONS: Signed with Bears as an undrafted free agent (4/30/2007).
PERSONAL NOTES: Was named 2003 high school Player of the Year by numerous outlets while at Independence High School under coach Tom Knotts, leading team to 3 consecutive state championships (2000, 2001, 2002) and 46 straight wins as a 3-year captain and 4-year starter… 2nd in national prep history with 15,593 career passing yards… USA Today's Offensive Player of the Year in 2002 and MVP of state championship game 3 consecutive seasons… Two-time winner of North Carolina’s Mr. Football Award and state’s AP Player of the Year.
