How Acquired: Signed as an unrestricted free agent March 3, 2007, signing a five-year, $18.2 million contract.
Future Contract Status
2007: Posted career-high receiving statistics while starting 15 games in his first season as a Viking. Had 27 catches for 323 yards (12-yard average) with one touchdown. Previously, he had a career total of 253 yards receiving. Has the longest reception by a tight end in Vikings history with a 79-yard reception on a reverse pass from wide receiver Sidney Rice. After five NFL seasons, had not missed a game.
2006: Played in all 16 games for the Giants, including four starts. He caught 12 passes for 81 yards.
2005: Played in all 16 games, starting five. He caught eight passes for 91 yards.
2004: Played in all 16 games and made seven starts. He caught five passes for 25 yards and one touchdown.
2003: Drafted on the third round with the 91st pick of the draft. Played in all 16 games, starting seven of them. He finished the year with 10 receptions for 56 yards and two touchdowns.
College: Played in 30 games for Morgan State, catching 52 passes for 1,001 yards (a 19.3 yard average) and 11 touchdowns. Was named first-team All-Mid Eastern Athletic Conference as a senior, catching 25 passes for 510 yards and five touchdowns.
Personal: Has been active in fundraising for Habitat For Humanity’s International Katrina Relief Fund. Served as a professor for the Giants’ “Football 101” and “Football 201” seminars to teach the NFL game to women. Played wide receiver, tight end and quarterback at Blair High School in Laurel, Md.
