Biography:
Santonio has shown flashes of becoming an outstanding running back. However, in order for that to happen he must become a good back without the football as well as with it. He had a great game at Auburn last fall, rushing for 199 yards and two touchdowns on just 20 carries. He broke a 51-year school record when he averaged 14.1 yards per carry (141 yards, 10 rushes) against Tennessee. He started against Auburn. He finished last year with 633 yards rushing. He saw action in 12 games as a freshman in 1999, then was redshirted with a shoulder injury in 2000. He was a two-time Mr. Football in Tennessee.
