Biography:
Pro
2009 outlook: Jones (6-1, 208) hauled in 47 passes for 676 yards, a 14.4-yard average and two touchdowns. Bigger things were expected from Jones last season, but a knee injury sustained in the preseason continually short-circuited his performance. He finished with 20 receptions for 274 yards, a 13.7 average and one touchdown. Almost half of that yardage came in Week 15 at Jacksonville, when Jones had four catches for 132 yards. If the Jones of 2007 and late 2008 emerges in 2009, the Packers’ passing game will have tremendous firepower. While Jordy Nelson had an impressive rookie season, his longest gain was only 29 yards. Jones had three receptions longer than that against the Jaguars alone and five in 2007.

2007: Had 47 catches for 676 yards was second in the NFC to Detroit’s Calvin Johnson (48-756), and third overall in the league for receptions by a rookie receiver. ... Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe led all rookie receivers with 70 catches for 995 yards. ... Jones played in all 18 games for the Packers with 11 total starts, complete with peaks and valleys. ... Confidence was shaken and he was benched early on in Green Bay’s Oct. 7 loss to the Chicago Bears for fumbling the ball away twice. But two games later, he caught a long pass from Brett Favre for a 79-yard touchdown in an MNF overtime win against the Denver Broncos. It was his second and final touchdown of the season. ... A California native, Jones struggled in cold weather games. Had four catches in four games in the month of December. After catching three passes for 42 yards on a snowy evening in Green Bay’s NFC Divisional playoff win over Seattle, he was held without a catch in the NFC Championship game on a bitter cold night eight days later at Lambeau Field. ... Selected in third round (78th overall) of NFL draft by Packers on April 28.
