New England Patriots rookie first-round offensive tackle Nate Solder has agreed to terms on an $8.54 million deal, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
The contract includes a $4.7 million bonus and an average annual compensation of $2.13 million.
And the deal is fully guaranteed for the first four years and includes a $769,806 non-guaranteed roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year in 2014.
A consensus All-American selection, the 6-foot-8, 307-pounder is an impressive athlete who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.96 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.
The Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year bench pressed 225 pounds 21 times and registered a 32-inch vertical leap.
Solder was a finalist for the Outland Trophy and an All-Big 12 Conference selection.
Solder gained weight after playing tight end initially at Colorado. He played tight end, defensive end and linebacker in high school, arriving at Colorado as a 6-foot-7 1/2, 245-pound freshman.
Solder allowed just five sacks and 21 quarterback pressures in three seasons. He played in the Senior Bowl.
Solder has power cleaned 415 pounds for three repetitions, hang-cleaned 473 pounds for three repetitions, squats over 600 pounds and was measured with eight-percent body fat.
