WR Drew Bennett: WR Will Workout For Buccaneers by Ed Thompson of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, June 15, 2009 at 3:36pm ET
Drew Bennett Profile
Scout.com has confirmed that WR Drew Bennett is traveling to Tampa Bay today for a scheduled workout with the Buccaneers.
The ninth-year veteran has logged 58 career starts during six years with the Tennessee Titans and two with the St. Louis Rams. He has a career average of 14.4 yards per catch and 28 touchdowns.
Bennett would be a good addition for the Buccaneers, especially when you compare his career stats to a player like Michael Clayton. Clayton has averaged 13.2 yards per catch for Tampa Bay and has just nine career touchdowns during his five-year tenure with the club. Seven of those nine scores were posted during his rookie season back in 2004.
A talented possession receiver, Bennett was sidelined during Week 1 action in 2008 while playing for the Rams when he sustained a foot injury. He was put on the team's injured reserve list in early November.
Two other teams that have shown interest in Bennett during the offseason are the Falcons and the Titans.
