Ashley Lelie Profile
The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free-agent WR Ashley Lelie, the
team announced. Terms of the deal weren't immediately available.
Lelie (6-3, 193) has played in 107 games (59 starts) during his seven-year NFL
career (2002-08). He has caught 217 passes for 3,749 yards (17.3 avg.) with 15
TDs and rushed 20 times for 172 yards (8.6 avg.). He has appeared in four
postseason contests (three starts), tallying 10 receptions for 152 yards (15.2
avg.) with a TD. Lelie entered the NFL as a first-round draft choice (19th
overall) of Denver in 2002. He has seen action with Denver (2002-05), Atlanta
(2006), San Francisco (2007) and Oakland (2008).
While Lelie hasn't done much in recent years statistically, he offers tremendous
down field speed--something the other receivers don't possess.
To make room for Lelie on their 80-man roster, the Chiefs waived WR Jeff Webb.
Webb played in 31 games (three starts) in three seasons with Kansas City
(2006-08), catching 36 passes for 382 yards (10.6 avg.) with a TD. He was
originally selected in the sixth-round of the 2006 draft by Kansas City.
