The Carolina Panthers have signed free-agent QB A.J. Feeley, the team announced on Tuesday. To make room for him on their 53-man roster, QB Josh McCown (knee) was placed on IR. Feeley was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on September 6.

Feeley is expected to man the No. 2 quarterback job as soon as he's up to speed on Carolina's playbook. It's believed Feeley played in a similar scheme to Carolina's when he played for the Miami Dolphins back in 2004.

Should QB Jake Delhomme continue to struggle as he did last week against the Eagles, Feeley could push Delhomme for the starting job.
