Tyler Thigpen Profile
The Kansas City Chiefs have traded backup QB Tyler Thigpen to the
Miami Dolphins for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick, the Chiefs announced Tuesday.
Thigpen (6-1, 224) played in 16 games (11 starts) in three seasons with Kansas
City (2007-09). He completed 232 of 426 passes for 2,649 passes with 18 TDs and
13 INTs for a 74.7 rating. He added 63 carries for 388 yards with three TDs. He
also caught a 37-yard TD pass in 2008. Thigpen was claimed off waivers by Kansas
City from Minnesota in 2007 after originally entering the NFL as a seventh-round
pick (217th overall) of the Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs had already been carrying four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster
and Thigpen had been surpassed by Brodie Croyle for the No. 2 job
recently. The Dolphins lost starting QB Chad Pennington (shoulder), who
was placed on IR, so adding another quarterback became necessary.
