OLB DeMarcus Ware: Agrees to New Deal by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, October 26, 2009 at 5:56pm ET
Demarcus Ware Profile
The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a six-year contract extension with starting
OLB DeMarcus Ware, FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer reports.
The deal, once it's approved by the league, will be worth nearly $13 million per
season according to Glazer, and will approach $40 million in guaranteed money.
As noted by Scout.com
last week,
Ware recently turned down a similar deal, but with roughly an average of $12
million per season with nearly $40 million in guaranteed money.
Sources familiar with the negotiations told Scout.com that Ware wanted a
deal that eclipsed the one Baltimore Ravens DE/OLB Terrell Suggs signed
back in July.
Suggs signed a six-year deal with $38 million guaranteed. While Suggs' deal
averages just over $10.4 million per season, the deal averages over $14 million
in each of the first three years.
As noted previously, Ware signed a six-year deal as a rookie, but the final year
will void because he met minimum playing time requirements, which was only
needed in just one season.
